How to Set Up Custom Android Icons: A Step-by-Step Guide using Nova Launcher

So, you've just bought one of our icon packs (or found another pack out there!) and you’re ready to bring your Android home screen to life. This guide will walk you through each step of setting up these custom icons on your device.

While this guide is written with the latest Android version in mind, it should work across most recent versions. You may notice a few small differences here and there, so if you need a hand, feel free to hop onto our Discord server for support or reach out via our contact form!

Before we get started, ensure you've downloaded Nova Launcher from the Play Store.  

Please note: Nova Launcher is a launcher that will change the layout of your device, it allows a lot of customizing but some people don't prefer this change. Please see our guide for using an icon changer instead if you don't prefer this! 

Part 1: Getting the Icons onto your Phone

1. If you have purchased one of our icon packs you should receive an email with a Dropbox link or ZIP file.
2. Tap on "Download Now" - this will automatically start your download:
   
3. Open your "Files" app on your device:
   
4. Tap on the downloaded icons (they should be in a .zip file):
   
5. There should be four files ("Tutorial and Handy Code", "Icons", "Wallpapers", and "Long Icons").
6. Tap on the check mark in the upper left side of your screen:
   
7. Tap on the "Extract" option - this saves the files on your device:
   

Part 2: Customizing Icons using Nova Launcher 

1. Open the Nova Launcher app on your device:
   
   Note: This will change the layout of your home screen.
2. Tap and hold on the app you wish to customize.
3. Tap on "Edit" from the popup menu:
   
4. Tap on "Gallery Apps" - this will open multiple sources from which you can select your icons (Files, Galley, Google Drive etc.):
   
5. Tap on "Gallery" - this will open your different albums:
   
6. Scroll down and tap on "Icons":
   
7. Select the icon you wish to use and tap "Done":
   
8. Repeat steps in Part 2 for all the icons you wish to customize. Once done, please feel free to share your creations with us on social media @cremechii
