How to Set Up Custom Android Icons & Widgets: A Step-by-Step Guide using an Icon Changer
So, you're ready to personalize your phone with some of our adorable custom icons (or found a different pack elsewhere!), but not sure where to start? We've got you — this cute and easy guide will take you through each step to help you set them up on your Android device in no time!
It should work on all Android devices, but if you need any extra help, you can always hop into our Discord server or send us a message through our contact form.
Before we begin, make sure you've downloaded the app Any Icon from the Play Store. Let's get started!
Setting up Icons
Part 1: Getting the Icons onto your Phone
- If you've purchased one of our icon packs, you should receive an email with a Dropbox link.
- Tap on "Download Now" - this will automatically start your download:
- Open your "Files" app on your device:
- Tap on the downloaded icons (they should be in a .zip file):
- There should be four files as shown below. Tap on the check mark on the upper left side of your screen to select all of them:
- Tap on the "Extract" option - this saves the files on your device:
Part 2: Customizing Icons in Any Icon
- Open "Any Icon" on your Android device:
- Scroll through your apps until you find the app you would like to customize (alternatively you can also search through your apps):
- Select the "Image" option to use one of the saved icons:
- Tap on the "Download" option in the menu bar:
- Locate your icons and then select the icon you would like to use:

Tap on the check mark at the top right hand side of your screen:
- Edit the style of your icon by selecting the shape you would like to use:
- Tap on "Use" - this will add the custom icon to your home screen:
Note: If you are using the unpaid version of the app you might encounter an ad here. Nobody likes these!
- Tap "Add" on the bottom right and you should be finished!:
- Success! You can repeat these steps for any icons you wish to change.
Setting up Widgets
Part 1: Adding Widgets
- Swipe up on your home screen and select "Widget":
- Swipe down in your apps until you find "Gallery":
- Tap on "Gallery", then tap "Images and Stories":
- Tap on the "Add" button in the middle of the image:
- This will add an image widget to your home screen. You can add different sizes for your widgets depending on what you want your home screen to look like!
Part 2: Customizing the Widget
- Tap and hold on the widget then Tap on "Settings" in the menu:
- Select "Images to Show" and then "Select Images":
- Scroll through your gallery folders and tap on "Long Icons" for the long widgets. The filler icons in the "Icons" folder can be used for square widgets:
- Select the image you would like to use and tap on "Done".
- Choose either "Centre and fill widget" or "Fit to widget" option:
- Select the icon on your home screen to select it and drag the blue dots to resize the image until it is the size you want:
- Repeat these steps to add more widgets and just like that, your home screen is totally customized! Once done, please feel free to share your creations with us on social media @cremechii
